I had the pleasure of working with Joe at the post office for quite a few years. I subbed for Joe on his route when he wanted a day off. We had a lot of fun in those days and always got the job done. I had the pleasure of seeing Joe from time to time when I was the postmaster in Greenville and we talked about the old days. I remember on rainy days I would come off the route looking like a drowned rat but Joe always looked good. He was one of the best letter carriers I have ever known. I BBC Amos sorry for your loss.

What a wonderful man! He was our mail carrier in Coxsackie. We had a german shepherd named Peabody. When Joe delivered our mail on Lafayette Avenue, Peabody was usually waiting for him. Peabody would walk with him for the rest of his route all the way down Mansion Street hill to the post office. Joe would finish at the post office, put Peabody in his car, and drive her home! Can you imagine??? We never found out about this ritual until Sherm saw Joe someplace one day. Joe said he loved having Peabody by his side during his route. Hopefully he and Peabody have had a great reunion. Thanks for the great memory, Joe!
