Harry Zellmer is the only father figure I've had in my life and the grandfather to my two sons. Three of my fondest memories of our time together are when I was nineteen and in college he took the time to teach me how to drive a stick shift. If it weren't for his lessons I probably still wouldn't be able to drive one today. When my kids were younger, my Mom and Harry came to visit for Christmas. Harry dressed up as Santa and surprised Jack and Billy. It blew their minds and was a very special time for all of us. In later years we came up to visit them. Harry and I had a lengthy conversation about his time in WWII. He showed me letters and pictures of a guy he became good friends with during the war. When I asked what became of Paul he said he didn't know. I felt compelled to find Paul and eventually I did. I gave Harry his contact information and they reunited along with my Mom and Paul's wife. My mom said Harry cried after they talked and I felt so honored to be a part of that reunion. I know Harry's happy and at peace now with Ruth, my Mom and all his family members and friends that have been waiting for him.
