Back when I was around six(ish) years old. My mother sent me to New York for the summer. It was my first time leaving home without my parents. Luckly, I had my brother with me. Sometime during that early summer, an 18 wheeler pulls up to my house in TN (Cant remember if the trailer was attached or not). 6 year old me was overwhelmed with joy to discover this was going to be my taxi cab to NY. What kiddo wouldnt??? This was my first REAL memory of Uncle Larry (again, not blood related so this must have been my nickname that my brother and I gave him.). He had this "mans man" vibe about him and seemed pretty scary. So...the very first thing he does (while driving in his truck with him) is to "break the ice". He shows us this "magic trick" where he can somehow flip his teeth around and look like a monster. First time seeing fake teeth(had no idea that fake teeth even existed) and was in awe and jealous the he could perform such a feat. We had a pretty good laugh and the fear I had of this intimdating man quickly left. This roadtrip and bonding time with him/memories has never been forgetten. Before i heard the sad news of his passing i was sharing my stories about him to my work friend days before. They still make me smile and i will never forget what a great person he was. I have a million great stories that I wish I could share that can only scratch how amazing Uncle Larry was. He will always be in my thoughts and greatly missed.
