Obituary of Harry E. Yeomans

NORTON HILL – Harry E. "Junior" Yeomans, Jr., 85, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2016 at his residence with his family at his side. Junior was born at home in Norton Hill on January 5, 1931, son of the late Harry E. and Edith Galatian Yeomans. He graduated from Greenville Central School, class of 1948. Junior worked in the family business, Yeomans Garage in Norton Hill, for several years before entering the US Marine Corps in 1952. He was discharged in 1954 and returned to the garage, taking over from his father and running the garage until he retired in 1998. Junior was a member and Past Master of James M. Austin Lodge 557, F&AM in Greenville, member of Greenville American Legion Post 291, and member of Norton Hill Wildlife Club. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as hunting, trapping, fishing and camping with his wife, Mary. Junior is survived by his wife, Mary Phelps Yeomans, with whom he just celebrated 60 years of marriage on October 7th; son, Kenneth Yeomans; daughter, Kathleen (Fred) Vedder; 2 granddaughters, Rebecca and Amelia Christian, who loved "Pop Pop" very much; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Junior was predeceased by his siblings, Erwin Yeomans, Cornelia Ingalls, and Galatian Yeomans. Calling hours will be Wednesday, November 30th from 4 to 8 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville. James M. Austin Lodge 557 will conduct a Masonic ritual at 7 p.m., and Greenville American Legion Post 291 will conduct a wake service at 7:30 p.m. The funeral will be Thursday, December 1st at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, followed by burial in Greenville Cemetery.
