Obituary of Ralene L. Smith

GREENVILLE – Ralene L. Knott Smith, 65, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at St. Peter's Hospital. She was born in Catskill on September 1, 1950, daughter of Leonard "Bud" Knott and the late Dorothy Felter Knott. Ralene graduated from Greenville Central School, Albany Business College, and spent 8 years attending night classes at the College of St. Rose leaving with a Bachelor's degree in accounting. She was previously employed by VanAuken Express in Greenville, then by GE Plastics in Selkirk for 24 years, retiring in 2007. Rae was a communicant of Christ Episcopal Church in Greenville, and served many years as the church treasurer. She was a member of Maranatha Valley Chapter 38 Order of the Eastern Star. In retirement, Rae loved wintering in Sun City, Oro Valley, Arizona with her husband. Rae was an avid quilter and was a member of Sun City Quilters and Seniors for Kids. She also was a charter member and collector of Swarovski crystal. In addition to her father, Ralene is survived by her husband, Marvin R.B. Smith; two children, Wayne Smith (Kelly), and Michelle Smith-Ferraro (Tony); one grandson, Wyatt Beaumont; one brother, Lewis Knott (Susan); nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins. Calling hours will be Tuesday, July 5th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville, N.Y. The funeral will be Wednesday, July 6th at 11am at the funeral home, followed by burial in the family plot in Greenville Cemetery.
