Obituary of Mary P. O' Callaghan
Mary P. O'Callaghan, 81 years, of Freehold, NY passed away on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 in the Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, NY. She was born in New York City on Nov. 29, 1928, daughter of the late Hugh and Bridget (Brady) O'Reilly. Mary was a lifelong homemaker, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of the Our Lady of Knock Council, Knights of Columbus #6439 Columbiettes. She was
known for her Irish Soda Bread and her Aran Sweaters which were prize winners at the NY State Fair. Mary was also very active in charitable works, the Alight Center and other Pro-Life groups just to mention two. She was a very active member in her church, Our Lady of Knock Shrine, where she sang in the choir. Mary was always there helping her family through several illnesses. Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband in 1989, Timothy O'Callaghan and a son, Terrance O'Callaghan.
Surviving are her children, Angela O'Callaghan (Ed Bennett), James
O'Callaghan (Josephine), Brendan O'Callaghan (Mary), Timothy O'Callaghan (Kelly) and Cormac O'Callaghan (Joann), her three grandchildren, Christine, Christopher and Deirdre O'Callaghan and one great grandchild, Amelia Rose Burgess, her two sisters, Winifred Brennan and Alice Gusmano and her brother, Hugh O'Reilly and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be Fri. July 9, 10:15am from the A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR81, Greenville, NY with a Mass of Christian Burial 11am at Our Lady of Knock Shrine in East Durham, NY. Friends may call at the funeral home 4 to 8pm on Wednesday and Thursday. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Catskill, NY.
