Our most sincere condolences. We loved to chat with Marty. Recall visiting with him in Oak Hill when Karl had the restaurant there.

Marty was a man with a big heart for school bus safety. He loved the pupil transportation industry and was always committed to the safety of children in New York State. Marty held the title of New York State Education Department Master Instructor, New York State Education Department School Bus Driver Instructor, New York State Department of Motor Vehicle 19A Certified Examiner and many more within the industry. Of all his titles, the one I am most thankful for is mentor. When I was a new Transportation Supervisor Marty took the time to answer my questions and assist me with my professional development. I am sure I am not the only one who has been blessed by Marty’s knowledge, commitment, candor and big smile; knowing Marty always made time to help new transportation professionals in the industry. He will truly be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to Gloria and the family during this difficult time.

Gloria and family:
So sorry to hear about the passing of Marty. I always enjoyed visiting with him when I was at school, in Oak Hill and most recently when I seen him at the Post Office in Greenville. He was also a special friend of my Mom.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time.
With Love

To the family of Mr. Marty Dratz. What a person he was as a professional and I am sure as a family man. As a driver for the past 31 years for Schalmont, Marty became our Supervisor for several years. Marty brought such professionalism to our district and years of experience and knowledge. Marty became a mentor for me and encouraged me to become a 19A Certified Examiner and a School Bus Driver Instructor, which I have been since 1997. Marty had an open door policy and truly loved what he did arriving very early each morning after driving in from
Durham.
Marty retired from Schalmont several years ago and then was called back to fill in for an interim period because of issues with the then current supervisor. Having him back was a bonus for us!! I would keep in touch with Marty and see him each summer at the NYAPT conference or at a seminar. Just a few years ago Marty was brought into Berne Knox Westerlo to clean up a mess left by the previous supervisor. He called upon me to assist him with performing driver reviews on the road. I was very happy to have been able to help him.
So in closing, I will always remember Marty as a mentor and friend and someone I will reflect on moving forward as someone who put his trust and confidence in me to carry out our important mission and responsibilities.
My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Dratz family during this difficult time. God bless.
