Obituary of Agnes Noreen Fennessy
WATERVLIET - Agnes N. Fennessy, 85, passed away peacefully at her residence on Monday, June 21, 2010. Born in Watervliet on April 4, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Edward F. Fennessy and Catherine McGovern Fennessy Burns. Miss Fennessy was a lifelong resident of the Port Schuyler section of Watervliet. She was educated in St. Brigid's School and Watervliet High School. She received a B.A. from the College of St. Rose and earned a Master's in Education from the New York State Teachers College. She also attended Siena College.
Miss Fennessy's teaching career was in the field of elementary education. She taught at Maplewood, NY and at School 18 in Troy, NY. She retired from the City of Troy School System in 1984.
Miss Fennessy was a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Shrine Church in Troy, and a member of NYS United Teachers.
She was predeceased by her brother, Edward F. Fennessy, sister, Bernardine McGowan, and stepfather, Michael J. Burns. Survivors include her brother, Francis J. Fennessy of Manchester, CT and her nephew, Timothy McGowan of Watervliet; also survived by 12 other nieces and nephews and many grandnieces and grandnephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 25 at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Shrine Church, 28 State Street, Troy. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy. The family will gather at 9:30 a.m. at the church, prior to the funeral.

The family would like to thank Dr. Robert S. Busch and the staff of the Endocrine Group; Community Hospice of Rensselaer County for their compassionate care in Agnes' final days; and the ER and Nursing staff at Albany Memorial Hospital.
