I've known Charlotte for 25 years through my work at the Regional Food Bank, but we were also friends. I have so many memories of Charlotte...of lunch at her house with 3 entrees to choose from, which she called leftovers; a trip down the 'cliff' to see the waterfall at the Cornwallville house (I was clinging to vines to keep from falling while she was scampering ahead of me); of her living room full of gifts for holiday giving; of the wall of pictures and awards by her chair in the sitting room; of her winning a burbing contest with Georgie at the hospital and laughing in spite of a fridge having fallen on her and putting her there; of her reporting her work caring for people and animals (found home for one dog); of asking God why he let a piece of the church ceiling fall on her head (I'm at church all the time. I'm the last person that needs a smack in the head!); of the many knitted creations she made for me, including a pillow made with some of the fiber made at the factory (that's out claim to fame; our rope was chosen by NASA to go to the moon!); and so much more. Rest well, dear one. You are reunited with your beloved George and Georgie.
Lieselotte was a patient at teh eye doctor's office where I work. She was my favorite. I loved to hear her stories about her time in the Olympics. And nothing tickled my heart more than when she brought in her pictures from those days to show me. She will be deeply missed.
With deepest condolensces,
Kami Race
I met Charlotte through my daughters and from working as preschool teacher at the Lutheran Church. Her stories, her love for people, escpecially the children, and her dedication to God, have stayed with me for a long time. I do not live in the area anymore, and have missed her. Your loss must be significant. Sending you all my condolences and prayers.
