Shirley loved her family farm with the cows on both sides of the road. I think Shirley’s happiest memories were on the farm with her Mom, Betty Lockwood McCafferty, Dad, Fredrick (Freddie) McCafferty, big brother Willie and Shirley herself with the cows and dogs and cats. With Shirley, there would always be cats. Shirley loved how things used to be when she was a kid on the family dairy farm. Shirley was not a fan of change but change did come to the farm.
Shirley and Willie had both survived accidents and of course Shirley had Rheumatoid Arthritis which was challenge during her adult life. However surviving these struggles seemed to draw these two, Shirley and Willie, closer together. Willie’s death hit Shirley hard, really hard.
Now Shirley is free to reunite with her beloved brother Willie, her Mom Betty and Dad Freddy and see cows on both sides of the road. Shirley is free to rejoin those happy days. May the Karner Blue Butterflies be a sign for Shirley reappearing in Spring. May Shirley's spirit enjoy the beauty of nature, the beauty and wonder of animals of all kinds both wild and domestic, the beauty of colors which come with the changing seasons. Fly Free Shirley. Fly Free.

Shirley was one of the seniors in high school who always watched out for me in Junior High. Every single time we saw each other she was all smiles and hugs, even if we hadn’t seen each other in a while. Her energy and positive attitude brightened everyone’s day. I’m honored to have known her.

Sincere condolences to Nancy, Gaye, Brant, Amy and family. Shirley was a dear friend whose smile lit up a room.
She was a kind soul whose concern for others was evident. Full of spunk and fun she will surely be missed. May she Rest in Peace.
