Although not present at Bill's service physically, we were there in heart. For the short time we knew him, we came to love and appreciate the man he was. Friendly, warm, smart and stately are the words with which we could describe him. As for Sue....a match made in heaven. What a pair, what a man! He is certainly sitting at the right hand, we're sure....just where Sue was when he was on this earth. Heaven gained an angel for sure. God bless Sue and family with love!

Dearest Lori, Billie, LuAnn and my other mother. Love you all dearly and I'm so sorry for your loss and pain. I have so many happy memories of all of you. Your home was my home away from homr One thing really stands out in.my mind is playing scrabble with your mom and dad. He was so smart and we had to challenge his words but of course, we always lost. One word I distinctly remember was teets. I just thought he was using slang and never knew what it stood for. Haha. Hang on to your memories all of you. I have never stopped holding you all close to my heart and it breaks for all of you. Love Fran Ridings. If there is anything you need please let me know.

Deeply sorry to hear about Bill's passing. He was a lifelong dear friend of my parents and a joyful presence in my memories for as far back as they go. He will be rightfully remembered for all he accomplished as a businessman in Greenville. But Bill was far more than a businessman. What really stands out in my memory is his endless charitable work. It is difficult to remember a charitable event in Greenville in the last 50 years that Bill wasn't happily volunteering. His smile, laugh, and genuine goodwill a continual presence at all these events. He truly lived a life of service. Greenville has lost one of its very best. Terry and I send our love, thoughts, and prayers to Sue and all his family.

The loss of your husband & dad is never an easy thing to live thru. It is good to know he was home and with family. I offer condolences and kind words for your loss of such a wonderful man. Others have already stated words such as; honest, integrity, kind, and he was a true servant to the community.
I will always remember the many times visiting Vons Dept Store, a staple in the community. I often was fitted for sneakers by Mr. Von Atzingen as he served everyone personally and with attention and a kind word of encouragement. I remember when the basketball team all had the maroon converse high tops and when I went down to get mine I was so excited..and yes of course the cloths and toys from there…such great memories of a small town growing up.
May his passing be a reminder of living life well and for serving others. He did it so well.
May your memories always bring you comfort and a smile as do mine for my dad.
May God continue to bless Mr. Von Atzingen’s family and and May you all know he is now resting in peace. Be strong, because you know that is what he would want for his family.
Blessings to you all,
Jeff Mangold

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Mr. Von Atzingen was such a wonderful, kind man. I fondly remember going to Von's Dept. Store for new shoes for school each year and being fitted for them by Mr. Von Atzingen when I was a child. Any time I stopped in as an adult, he always shared a smile and always took the time to talk and catch up. May the Lord wrap His arms around you and give you comfort.

Another great loss of a community icon. I will always remember going to Von's on Main Street to purchase clothing for school......especially those lovely gym uniforms that we all went there to get. My condolences to the VonAtzingen family.
