Obituary of Mary T. Carnibucci

RAVENA - Mary Teresa Carnibucci, age 104, passed into everlasting life on Wednesday May 4, 2022 to be with her loving husband and family members. Mary was born in Coeymans to the late William and Angelina Bassotti, the fourth of five children. She was employed by various dress factories in Ravena until her retirement, at which time she and her husband operated their small farm. After her husband’s passing, Mary became a member of the Senior Projects of Ravena, enjoying the company of other seniors going to dinner, taking bus trips, playing cards and bingo with her friends, all of whom have passed on. Still looking for something to do in her 80’s, Mary became a STARS volunteer in Mr. Koblenzer’s classroom at Pieter B. Coeymans Elementary School, where she shared her life experience with the children. Never having completed school, she was deeply touched when the school presented her with her high school diploma. She cherished being with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and then great-great grandchildren. She loved puttering in her vegetable and flower gardens. She was a devout Catholic and life-long communicant of St. Patrick’s Church in Ravena. She celebrated her 100th birthday and the Church’s 100th anniversary that same year. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, she will be remembered for her love of family, strong faith in God, sweet smile, generous trays of Italian cookies, homemade pasta, and industriously crocheting afghans all of which she produced well into her later years. After suffering a serious fall in 2016, she resided at St. Peter’s Nursing & Rehabilitation Facility. She maintained her strong faith in God, continuing to be a smiling and happy person, always appreciative of the care she received there. The family wishes to extend sincere appreciation to the staff of St. Peter’s Nursing Facility, especially her Third Floor caregivers, who gave her such gentle attention during her stay. Also, sincere thanks to Glen Koblenzer and Mark Malenowski, for their friendship, as well as St. Patrick’s Parish Family who have reached out over the years with love, support, cards, and prayers. Mary was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Joseph P. Carnibucci; son, Dominic J. Carnibucci; infant grandchildren, Traci Sue Carnibucci and Douglas Gibbs; siblings, Mario, Secundo, John Bassotti, and Carmella Francisoni. Survivors include son, Carmon R. Carnibucci, Sr. (Evelyn), daughter, Mary M. Gibbs Lewandowski, and daughter-in-law, Linda Carnibucci; grandchildren, Carmon Carnibucci Jr. (Darlene), Samuel J. Carnibucci, Dominic Carnibucci Jr. (Rene), and Lisa Hindes (TJ); great-grandchildren, Joseph Carnibucci (Melany), Jordan Carnibucci (Jaida Motley), Victoria Carnibucci (Will WIlson), Desiree and Dominic Carnibucci, Kyle and Kiersten McKenna, and Samantha Carnibucci; great-great grandchildren, Lily, Madilyn, and Amilya Carnibucci, Jino and Giana Carnibucci, and Jackson Wilson; and multiple nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call at the A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 9 Main Street, Ravena, on Monday May 9th from 4 to 8pm. Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Patrick’s Church on Tuesday May 10th at 10am, followed by burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
