Obituary of Mary Ellen Martin

GREENVILLE - Mary Ellen Martin, age 51, passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2012 in St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. She was born on March 4, 1961 in Catskill, daughter of the late Worthington F. and Dolores T. (Carey) Pidgeon. Mary Ellen was raised and educated in Catskill. She has been employed for the last 12 years as a maintenance and purchasing/inventory clerk at Coxsackie Correctional Facility. She also worked at the Hideaway Tavern in Athens for 18 years as a bartender, the Quarry Steakhouse in the same capacity, as well as other jobs dealing with the public. Mary Ellen was a practicing Reiki therapist and a wedding officiant. She loved doing arts and crafts, had a green thumb and loved all animals. Mary Ellen and her husband, Patrick M. Leonard have been together for three years and married eleven days ago on June 20 in the Chapel at St. Peter's Hospital. Survivors, in addition to her husband Pat, include her stepsons, David Leonard and Evan Mc Elroy; her siblings, Peter Pidgeon (Libby), Rita Mary Young (Albert), Michael Pidgeon, Edith Ryder Pidgeon and Paul Pidgeon; several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Thursday and Friday from 3:30 to 8 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville. Funeral Mass in celebration of her life will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 4987 State Route 81, Greenville, followed by cremation.
