Don was a blessing to our family and a good friend indeed. His love for Jesus and the Word of God were powerful reminders to us of his faith and exemplary lifestyle. His marriage to Ruth was another example of faithful Christian living. We will miss him enormously, but know we will see him again in the sweet "bye and bye."

I remember Don Lyon and his family with great fondness. Don was the Pastor of Second Baptist Church in North Stonington, CT, when I, as a young adult, first met him. He was a big man, both in physical and spiritual stature, and was someone who seemed to naturally uplift all those around him. He was one of several whose impact on my life drew me ever closer to becoming a Christian. Whether he was preaching to a crowd, playing basketball with youth, or leading a missions trip, Don exuded a devotion to Jesus that was delightfully contagious. The way Don lived reminds me of those words written about Jesus, that not even the whole world could contain the number of books required to capture all that he ever did. Although not remembered or recorded in their entirety here on earth, I'm so glad Don's seemingly non-stop loving service to his family and others are remembered by our Lord in exacting detail. I wish the entire Lyon family a special closeness from the Lord himself as they remember how this great man of God touched their lives.

Ruth and your family we extend our deepest sympathy to hear the loss of a great man. Don was more than our Paster when you folks came to North Stonington, CT. he was a great friend with our family especially with my Dad (Big Jim Crider) whom we loss this past July. They were like brothers who worked, played and loved each other like families do. He preached the truth and lived it. I know they are together again in Heaven and probably having the time of their lives. We will be praying for you and your family for comfort and guidance during this time. As I said, Paster was a wonderful man and will be truly missed by everyone that knew him. God bless

When I arrived at Westerlo Don quickly extended his friendship to me. He mentored me and guided me through the early years of my ministry. I know he is with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and I will see my friend and brother again on that glorious day. Jane and I extend our love and prayers to the Lyons family.

We praise our LORD GOD ALMIGHTY with you Lyon family, because to be absent in the body means the believer in Jesus Christ is now present with the LORD. What a great comfort we have as Christians. Pastor Don Loved and lived for our LORD 24/7. I always called Pastor Don my Favorite Pastor because he was. He always encouraged me every-time we would see each other. His greatest advice to me just before I started to Pastor in S.W. was. "Will, some people will maybe remember this sermon or that sermon, but, what they really will remember is your character. How you lived your life!" He truly lived our Lord Jesus before us. I only pray now for you all in the days to come, that the comforter will comfort and guide in the days to come. :)
