Obituary of Walter R. Heisinger

Walter Robert "Bob" Heisinger, (83) died in Sunday May 27, 2012. He leaves his wife of 56 years, Mary K. Heisinger; his sons Thomas R. Heisinger (Kathleen) & Edward K. Heisinger; his daughter Elizabeth A. Stewart (Marc) his grandchildren; Jennifer A. Greathouse (Jesse), Meaghan E. Siekman (Michael), Joseph E. Heisinger and Amelia E. Stewart; his niece Ann Dillon (Jack) and children Jennifer and Andrew. He was predeceased by his brother Donald E. Heisinger and nephew Frank B. Heisinger. Born in Stamford, CT, the son of Walter and Anna D. Heisinger., he was a longtime resident of Greenville, NY. An active member of the community, he belonged to a multitude of organizations including the Catskill & Windham Rotary Clubs, Catskill Elks, Police Assn. of Greene County, Greenville American Legion Post #291 and the Windham and Greenville Republican Committees. He was honored to be named Greene County Republican of the Year 2007. Bob was a 32nd degree mason and a member of Mt. Top Lodge 529 F. & A.M. where he served as both Master and District Deputy. He was also a member of the Shrine Club of Greene County, Royal Arch, Cyprus Temple of Glenmont, Scottish Rite Valley of Albany &, Knights Templar Lafayette Commandry #7. A graduate of the University of Rhode Island, he also attended Wharton School of Business and Columbia University. He proudly served in the Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. Bob was wholly committed to his 25 year career as Greene County Coroner during which time he attended the FBI Academy for Advanced Forensics and served as a Director of the New York State Coroner's Assn. In 1977, he was honored to be named Greene County Lawman of the Year. Bob's commitment to his family was immeasurable. He was loved by so many for his warmth and wonderful sense of humor.
