Obituary of Hilda May DeWitt

Hilda May DeWitt, 88 years, of Catskill, NY left this world on Feb. 7, 2010. She was born in Purling, NY on Jan. 26, 1922, daughter of the late Lamont and Elizabeth (Becker) Dederick. Hilda was a graduate of Cairo Central School Class of 1941; a Charter Member of the Catskill Valley Historical Society, Past President of the Durham Central School P.T.A. and in past years active in the Boy Scouts and the 4-H Club. She was also a member of the Catskill Valley Chorus and was active in the Oak Hill Days and the restoration of the Oak Hill Durham U.M. Church. Hilda was predeceased by her husband, John "Jack" DeWitt, three brothers, Edison, Arthur and Donald Dederick. Hilda is survived by a son, George DeWitt of Catskill, NY and a daughter Elizabeth "Libby" Nicholsen of Freehold, NY, grandchildren Aaron Bowman & Brenda Reyes of CA, two great grandsons, Dominic and Joshua also a sister, Letha Gallt of Gainsville, FL. A private cremation will take place and a Memorial Service, to which all are invited, will be held on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010 at 2 PM at the Greenville-Norton Hill U. M. Church in Norton Hill, NY.
