Obituary of Jean C. Wentink
GREENVILLE - Jean Celeste Wentink, aged 83, joyously joined her husband, Frank, in Heaven on Sunday, January 29, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer. She passed from this life surrounded by her devoted daughters and their families. Frank predeceased her on January 26, 1994, and she missed him every day since.
Jean was the daughter of the late Patrick and Catherine (nee Carroll) Mangan, of Limerick and Tipperary, Ireland; respectively. She was born and raised in Passaic, NJ with her 14 siblings, two of whom survive her: Patricia (Jack) Goetke of Northfield, NJ; and Gerald C. Mangan, of Clifton, NJ. She was proud of her Irish heritage, and she brightened lives with her incredible sense of humor. She was an avid reader, and her gardens benefitted from her green thumb. She loved her country home in Greenville, and enjoyed watching the deer and feeding the birds. She had a compassionate nature, and supported many charities.
She was the beloved mother of Catherine (Mike) Hamlin, Glens Falls, NY; Mary Jean (Walter) Noirot, Freehold, NY; Maureen Miller, Norton Hill, NY; Elizabeth (Damon) Baehrel, Earlton and Caroga Lake, NY; and Bonnie (Robert) Case of Rotterdam, NY.
Jean loved children and was happiest when she was surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the cherished grandmother of Melissa Hamlin; EO1 Michael Hamlin (USN Seabees); Tracy (Steven) Mistler; Cristy (James Smith) Clow; Sgt. (82nd Airborne) Justin (Kristynn) Miller; Frances and Kathleen Miller; Damon and Christian Baehrel; Frankie, Megan, Alicia and Marc Case.
Jean was the adored great grandmother (GRANDMA GREAT!) of: Julia, Lucas, Sierra, Angela and the late Daniel Mistler; Sydney Dudley, Jade and Trista Smith; and Travis and Asher Miller. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews of whom she was very fond.
