I don't ever remember a time when gram wasn't there for me. Gram was the matriarch of our family. One of the earliest memories I have of gram is when she use to come make breakfast for my brothers and I before we went to school on days when my mom had to work. Gram would say a prayer for us and then read a story to us out of the Children's Storybook Bible I still have today and have used for my own children when they were growing up. Then there was the memory of gram dressing up as "Santa" when my mom's brothers and sisters families would all get together for the holidays. Gram would hand out presents to all of her grandchildren and play games with us. Gram and I use to run the Children's Church at Alcove Assembly of God Church. She had many "grandchildren" there; many of them didn't have grandmothers of their own and gram would take them under her wing and love them as if they were her own. I can remember feeling so proud and honored to be her granddaughter. My first car was gram's brown valiant; a good, strong, solid car - just like gram. My first home was gram's mobile home on Gifford Road. My husband and I lived there for close to 12 years and started our family there - so many good memories we have of living in that home. Halloween and Christmas gram would make her famous popcorn balls to hand out - and there were special times when you were lucky enough to drop by when gram was making her famous and delicious glazed potatoes or fried homemade donuts. At the age of 86, gram started watching my older son, Brian, on days when I was in a pinch for a babysitter. She would plan special activities, which were actually chores, but she did it in such a way that to a 5 years old boy - it was all an adventure. She gave so freely of her time and love to all her knew her. I wouldn't be the person I am today, without having had her love, guidance and support all of these years.
Rest in peace gram,
I love you always and forever,
Lisa

My deepest sympathies to you all. I know what a cornerstone Grama Rose was to your families. I had the pleasure of knowing her as I was growing up. Heaven has received a very special Angel.

I was very little when Great Grandma used to watch me, and one of the most important lessons I learned from her was to treat other people kindly and not to lie. Otherwise, a "black angel was living in my heart". I'm going to miss you grandma. Love, Brandon.

I will never forget how when I was younger Great Grandma would watch Jenna and me. We always had so much fun when Great Grandma babysat us. I will never forget all that she has done for me. I will see her someday in heaven.
Love,
Brian

Words cannot describe how much I love my Grandmother. Grama was the most noble, humble, strong, and Godly woman I knew. She was always doing for and giving to others. She positively influenced so many lives.
My Grama lived with me and/or next to me for most of my life. I remember when I was a teenager my friends would always want to come over to my house to talk with Grama. I was and am so proud of her. She loved being with people, especially children, evident by the numerous children she took in and raised as her own throughout her lifetime.
As I got older, I gained a deeper appreciation for my Grama. She IS the model of what a mother should be. The way she loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and all others, all whom she considered family, was simply amazing.
Some of my most warm memories of my Grama are more recent ones that she shared with my son. She loved my little boy so deeply. I can picture them walking around the house with her walker...he loved her so much! They were best friends!!! I smile and tears come to my eyes when I think of how she fussed and loved on him.
If there are angels here on earth, she certainly was one of them. All Grama's life she has lived for the day to here "Well done my faithful servant" and a faithful servant she was. Grama, I know there is a well-deserved party going on in heaven in your honor. Now, you are our angel in heaven, thank you Grama!
I love and miss you greatly.
Your Granddaughter,
Cheryl
