Obituary of George Bruce Fredenburgh

George (Bruce) Fredenburgh, 77, of South Cairo, died on Thursday, January 31, 2019. Bruce was born in Catskill, New York on December 5, 1941 to the late Gilbert and Claudia Fredenburgh. While Bruce worked several jobs during his life, his passion was his church and his community ministries. He was an active member of the Grapeville Baptist Church and was proud to serve on the Board of Education for the Grapeville Christian School. For many years, Bruce served at the Albany City Mission, working with their meal outreach program and ministering to members of its community. He made a point of often visiting several area nursing homes and providing pastoral services. Bruce was a graduate of Catskill High School and went to Mohawk Valley Community College. He then enlisted in the US Air Force and served as an advance radio operator, often traveling to the most dangerous locations throughout the world. After five years in the military, Bruce was called into the ministry and went to Ole Miss for his Bachelor studies and then to seminary in both Montana and Missouri. Bruce loved to travel, go to the theater and hike in the mountains. He was an avid Civil War history buff and could keep you engaged with his stories for hours. Bruce was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Gulnick-Fredenburgh and is survived by his siblings: Robert Fredenburgh of Catskill and his wife Kathy, Gail Fredenburgh of Coxsackie and David Fredenburgh of Warrenton, Virginia and his wife Joice. A memorial service will be held at the Grapeville Baptist Church on Saturday, February 9th at 11am with a luncheon following in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to the Grapeville Christian School, 2416 County Route 26, Climax, NY 12042. Condolences can be posted at ajcunninghamfh.com.
