Obituary of Janet M. Conde

WESTERLO – Janet Griffin Conde, 82, passed away early Friday, January 25, 2019 following a long illness. She was born in Catskill on December 18, 1936, daughter of the late Maxwell James Griffin and Edna Almeda Heinick Griffin. Janet was raised in Greenville and attended Greenville Central School. She received her GED in 1979 and had one year of college credit, and was very proud of these accomplishments. Janet worked as a waitress at many of the resorts and boarding houses around Greenville. In later years, she was employed for 17 years as a secretary at the New York State Department of Corrections and was retired. Janet enjoyed crocheting, working in her flower bed, decorating, and bird watching. Janet is survived by her children, K. Cynthia Alexander, Kevin R. Conde, Stephanie Conde, and Renea (Steve) Justice; her grandsons, William and James Cole; her sisters, Carolyn Kerschl and Almeda Hempstead; nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Janet was predeceased by her granddaughter, Jacqueline Ashley Cole; her siblings, Maxwell James "Jimmy" Griffin and Alice Winnie. In keeping with Janet's wishes, she has been cremated. Calling hours will be Saturday, February 23rd from 2 until 4 p.m., with a memorial service at 3 p.m., at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Westerlo Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 12, Westerlo, NY 12193 will be appreciated.
