Obituary of Emil A. Vancura

EARLTON – Emil A. Vancura, 81, passed away on Friday September 14, 2018 after a brief illness. He was born on January 14, 1937 in Queens to the late Emil and Pauline Cech Vancura. Growing up in Long Island City, he worked for his family business, Vancura Machine, which specialized in Rolls-Royce restoration. After graduating high school, Emil went on to receive an Associates Degree from Bryant and Stratton College. He then moved to Bayville, where he owned and operated Vancura Marine. Emil then became an Insurance Adjuster for Geico, retiring in 2004. He moved to Greenville in 1987 and recently moved to Earlton. Emil was an avid, life-long NASCAR fan, and enjoyed talking about all types of cars, both old and new. Emil is survived by his wife, Janet Kifford Vancura; his daughters, Debra (Greg) Leonardo and Janet Bebry; his step-children, Ken (Ellen Huemmer) Harnett, Carol Harnett, Debra Daily, and John (Estela) Harnett; his grandchildren, Taylor Huemmer-Harnett, Heather (Matthew) Lorner, Alexandra Bebry, Andrew and Aaron Daily, Rocco, Evie, and Leslie Harnett, and Joseph, Kenneth, and Douglas Whitbeck; his great-granddaughters, Kassidy and Brinley Lorner; his sister, Joan (Wallace) Kappler; and his loving nieces, and grand-nephews and grand-nieces. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday September 18th from 4 to 7pm at the A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville, followed by a prayer service at 7pm. He will then be privately cremated.
