Obituary of Robert K. Schneider

GREENVILLE – Robert K. Schneider, 90, passed away on Sunday August 19, 2018 at St. Peter's Hospital. Born in the Bronx on January 23, 1928 he was the son of the late Roger H. and Ruth Warren Schneider and the husband for 65 years of Evelyn Weide Schneider. Robert graduated from the Manhattan High School of Aviation in 1946 and enlisted in the Air Force, where he served as Radio Operator aboard aircrafts for three years. He was employed in various jobs until 1951 and then became a Technician with New York Telephone Co. In 1956, Robert and his wife moved to Rockland County where they lived for 34 years until he retired from the Telephone Co. in 1987. While living in Rockland County, Robert obtained his private pilot's license and flying became his favorite pastime. In 1990, Robert and Evelyn moved to Schoharie County where they lived for almost 16 years before moving to Greenville. They became members of Resurrection Lutheran Church. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Ingrid Mann; two granddaughters, Lynn and Evelyn; a great-granddaughter, Lily, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, June Startup, and two nephews, Stephen and Jeffery Marschner. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday August 22nd from 2 to 4pm with a funeral service being held at 3:30pm at the A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville. Burial will be at Germonds Cemetery in New City, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Resurrection Lutheran Church, PO Box 563, Cairo, NY 12413.
