Riley, Francis F.
GREENVILLE - Francis F. "Frank" Riley of Greenville and Iselin, NJ, passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2010. Born in Fall River, Mass, and raised in Newark, NJ, he graduated from Barringer High School in 1944 and attended Newark College of Engineering. Frank was a US Army veteran serving in the Occupation Forces in Japan and was honorably discharged in 1947.
Much of Frank's career was with the Otis Elevator Company in Harrison, NJ as a draftsman and supervisor in the Design Engineering department. He was also an avid chess player, achieving the rank of Grandmaster.
Before retiring to Greenville, Frank resided in Iselin, NJ and was a member of St. Cecelia's Roman Catholic Church.
Frank is survived by his wife, Margaret "Marge" of 56 years; two sons, Frank Jr. of Randolph, NJ and Tom of South Lake, TX; three daughters, Marie Baldante of Chestnut Hill, PA, Joan Edwards and Carolyn Kanski, both of Summerville, SC; eight grandchildren of whom he was very proud, Eric, Alison, Connor, Dana, Paris, Christopher, Briana and Olivia. Frank's only sibling, Eileen Castles, predeceased him.
Calling hours will be Sunday, October 31 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR 81, Greenville. The funeral will be Monday, November 1 at 10:15 a.m. from the funeral home, then to Our Lady of Knock Shrine, East Durham, where the Funeral Mass will be offered at 11 a.m.
