Obituary of Alfred R. Heath
Alfred R. Heath (88) of Rensselaerville, NY died unexpectedly on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009. He was born in Far Rockaway, NY on Aug. 22, 1921 son of the late Alfred & Florence (Orr) Heath. Alfred graduated from Exeter Academy and attended Harvard University until he entered World War II. Serving in the US Army he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant; he proudly served in the Infantry and was awarded the Bronze Star. An avid sports fan, with a passion for tennis; he was a member of Westside Tennis Club for many years. He retired from International Paper Company in 1982. The ensuing years in retirement were devoted to his wife of 63 years, his five daughters and seven grandchildren.
Surviving is his wife Barbara (Claflin) Heath, his daughters Kristen Bologna (Charles). Susan Holmes, Terry Heath and Tracy Bensen (Gordon); 7 grandchildren & a sister Nancy Morgan. He was predeceased by a daughter Catherine Heath & a son-in-law Malcolm Holmes.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Tues. Dec. 29, 2009 (11am) at St. John the Baptist Church, Greenville, NY. Friends may call at the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR81, Greenville, NY on Mon. Dec. 28 from 4 to 7PM. Interment with Military Honors will be in the Rensselaerville Cemetery in the spring. Those who desire may contribute in his memory to the E. N.
