Obituary of Edward A. Van Orden
MIDDLEBURGH β Edward A. Van Orden, 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday December 10, 2017 in Hospice Care at Greene Meadows Nursing Home in Catskill. He was born on November 27, 1936 in Tallman, NY, Rockland Co., to the late Stephen and Suzie (Van Dunk) Van Orden, the fourteenth child of fourteen. Ed served as a Marine during the Korean War and was a Mason of brick, block, and stone in New York and in Texas. He was a fireman in Tallman and was a member of the VFW in Rockland Co. He loved horses, dogs and cats, and beer. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by twelve of his siblings.
Ed is survived by his wife of 21 years, Patricia A. Lyons Van Orden; his children, Betty Sanders, Joy Foxall, and Edward A. Van Orden, Jr.; his eight grandchildren; his eight great-grandchildren; his brother, Ira (Ann) Van Orden of Suffern, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday December 15, at 2pm at the Potter Hollow Rural Cemetery, County Route 362, Potter Hollow, NY. Condolences can be posted on ajcunninghamfh.com.
