Obituary of Frederick Rothe

FREEHOLD – Frederick Rothe, Jr., 88, passed away on Thursday October 19, 2017 at Community Hospice at St. Peter's Hospital. He was born on January 18, 1929 in Manhattan to the late Frederick and Madeline McCarthy Rothe. He was Honorably Discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1946. On October 27, 1956 he married Janice M. Gallow, and they were eight days shy of celebrating their 61st wedding anniversary when he passed. In 1973, he permanently moved to the family property in Freehold on O'Hara Rd. He worked as a foreman for NYS DOT until his retirement. Frederick was a member of the American Legion Post 291 and of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed camping, traveling the country, and wintering in Florida. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by two sisters. Frederick is survived by his wife, Janice M. Gallow Rothe; five children; and four grandchildren. Calling hours will be held on Friday October 27, 2017 from 6 to 8pm at the A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday October 28th at 10am at St. John the Baptist Church, 4987 State Route 81, Greenville, followed by burial in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Catskill.
