Obituary of Gilbert W. Baker

Gilbert William Baker, 65, of Greenville passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2017. He was born to Gilbert and Elizabeth (he was predeceased by his beloved mother in August 2015) of Albany. He spent over 40 years living in Greenville working at Lou's Auto and NAPA. He loved sharing his knowledge of vehicles and helping out friends when in need. Another of his interests and loves which he shared to the very end with his children was music, loved listening and singing to them. He leaves behind his best friend and fiancée, Carol Harnett. Carol stayed by his side as his caregiver to the very end. Gil showed great courage and strength. I love you. He loved his family leaving behind daughters Christina (Mike) Gallogly, Sherry, Karyn and his son, Gilbert aka "Gus" (Lisa). He is also survived by his sisters Carol (Tom) Sleasman, Debra (Tom), Donna (Joe) LaJoy and brother, George (Lori). He also leaves behind his grandchildren who meant so much to him as well as his nieces and nephews that he loved. He will be missed by the mother of his children, Lorrie (Teller) Baker. Viewing hours will be at A. J. Cunningham Funeral Home in Greenville on Saturday, August 26th from 2 until 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers we suggest a donation to a cancer foundation of your choosing.
