Obituary of Craig L. Matthews

FREEHOLD – Craig L. Matthews, 67, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson with his family by his side. Born in Catskill on May 27, 1950, he was son of the late Everett and Natalie Hull Matthews. Craig was raised in Durham and graduated from Greenville Central School. He worked for many years as an operating engineer out of Local 158 in Albany. He formerly owned his own business, Matt-land Excavating, and was formerly a police officer for the Town of Durham. Craig was a member of the Mount Nebo Hunting Club. Craig is survived by his wife, Linda Phinney Matthews; three children, Aaron Matthews, Heather (Brian) Champlin, and Fawn (Richard) Landry; 13 grandchildren, Keely, Lauren, Briana, Matthew, Kaitlyn, Meghan, Hailey, Mikaela, Christopher, Adam, Tyler, Juliana, and Lucas; one sister, Cheryl Hulbert. Craig has been cremated privately. Calling hours will be Wednesday, July 5th from 5 to 7 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Matthew Marlow officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Greene County Youth Fair, P.O.
