Obituary of Marie McCarroll

GREENVILLE – Marie McCarroll, 92, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, June 3, 2017. Marie was born in Brooklyn on January 16, 1925, to Paul and Sadie Pizzo Martinelli. She was the second of five children. Marie married Edward A. McCarroll in November of 1951. Marie and Ed had two sons, Edward Patrick and Kevin Paul. After Ed Senior died in 1963, Marie raised her sons in Queens. They moved to Greenville in 1968. Marie worked at the former Mary's Restaurant in Greenville for more than 20 years. She was an active member of Grapeville Baptist Church, where she was involved in many ministries. Her special ministry was with the students and teachers of Grapeville Christian School for 21 years, before retiring at age 91. Marie was a devoted wife, mom, grandma and great-grandma, friend and sibling. She will be missed. Marie is survived by her two sons, Ed McCarroll (Pamela), and Kevin McCarroll (Denise); six grandchildren, Brenden McCarroll, Britni McCarroll, Brianne (Matthew) Lee, Nicholas (Alicia) McCarroll, Ashlee (Daniel) Jarrold, and Kelsee (Jon) Dees; seven great-grandchildren, Grant, Logan, Carter and Luke Jarrold, Seth, Kyle and Mila Dees; sister, Caterina Kunzeman; several nieces and nephews. Marie was predeceased by her parents, husband, and brothers, Anthony and Francis Martinelli. Marie has been cremated privately. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 22nd at 11am at the Greenville Christian Life Center, State Route 32, Greenville.
