Obituary of Kathleen M. Van Tassel

CEMENTON - Kathleen Keohane Van Tassel, 78, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home on Friday, June 9, 2017. Born and raised in Jackson Heights, Queens, she spent summers in Oak Hill, Greene County, where she met her husband, Leland Van Tassel. They married on August 25, 1957, and lived in Saugerties until they bought their house in West Camp. Kathleen was an avid yardsaler and enjoyed traveling the world with her family and friends. In retirement, she moved to Florida and worked at Walt Disney World for 17 years. In her spare time, she also enjoyed watching sports on television, and rooting for her favorite New York teams. Kathleen is survived by her four children, Stephen Van Tassel (Debbie), Katrina Cotich (John), Laureen Gaffney (Michael), and Erich Van Tassel; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one brother, Thomas Keohane (Susan). She was predeceased by her parents, Stephen P. and Katherine Reilly Keohane; and her husband, Leland Van Tassel on April 21, 2000. Calling hours will be Monday, June 12, from 4 to 7 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Following cremation, private burial of her ashes will be in Saratoga National Cemetery.
