Obituary of Marie Frances Shaw

GREENVILLE CENTER – Marie Frances Shaw, 81, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 7, 2017. She was born on December 11, 1935 in Albany to the late Carl and Mildred Reynolds Swartout. Marie was raised in Westerlo, and graduated from Berne-Knox-Westerlo Central School in 1954. She then went to work at Pioneer Insurance Company in Greenville, where she was a receptionist and general office worker for 39 years. While working, she met Robert E. Shaw, and they were married on June 19, 1955. She was a very active member of the Greenville Center Baptist Church, having been a member for 60 years, and treasurer for 40 years. Marie loved to collect things, such as vinegar cruets and Liberace memorabilia. She loved music, and playing different instruments, such as her keyboard. She also loved riding with her husband on his motorcycle. Marie is survived by her husband, Robert E. Shaw; her son, Allyn (Mary) Shaw; her sister-in-law, Arlene (Russell) DiBello; and her nieces, Danielle Rothe, Michelle DiBello, and Meghan Cardona. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 10 from 6 to 8pm at the A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 11th at 11am at the funeral home, followed by burial in Greenville Cemetery.
