I just found this out now and I am sorry for your loss. My mom, too, was friends with Pearl and she talked about her often when they were in touch. You are so lucky to have had her in your life. RIP Pearl and say hi to my Mom.

Pearl was inspiring for so many! She started the Greenville Quilters as an open group of people who like quilting -- she was proud that it was not an 'exclusive' club. I learned to quilt there.
Pearl's method was 'all sewing by hand' with the exception of one project she did with her Florida quilters -- a jacket made with machine stitching. Pearl gave it to me and I wear it proudly. Each year before she left for Florida, she gave us a challenge project -- e.g., take this very plain fabric and make it into something amazing.
We made Pearl a quilt this fall -- in her bold colors and all sewn by hand. I'm very glad she got to have it before she passed. I will miss visiting her so much; the conversation was always enlightening, a new book she was reading or garden club news. And she always told me how much she appreciated 'Robert' (aka Bob) and all he did for her. So do I!
