Obituary of Walter L. Clickman

WESTERLO – Walter LeRoy Clickman at 69 years of age while surrounded by his loving family went home to heaven with his Lord and Savior Jesus after succumbing to disease on Saturday October 22, 2016. He passed away while in is home in Westerlo, NY. He was born June 18, 1947 to Dora Mae Fancher and Frederick Clickman in Catskill, NY. He grew up on the family farm, working and helping his dad. He later became partners with his dad and continued to work on the family farm. When his dad decided to retire, he got a job at Bryants, working nights for 10 years, During those 10 years, he also worked the farm – keeping up with the hay and buildings. He worked at the store during the night and the farm during the day until he could no longer work due to illness. He married Ivy May Kubernach and had two children and later 8 grandchildren. Walter enjoyed building things like cabinets and even built much of his own house. He loved his grandkids and put much of his energy and time into influencing them to be the best they could be. He was always going out of his way to get them lots of special treats. He took them for rides on the tractor and on other farm equipment. He was almost always wearing his special Grandpa Shirts to show off how proud he was to be a Grandpa. Even up until the very last days, he kept his amazing sense of humor and had he been given the opportunity, I’m sure he would have played some silly prank (like putting salt into someone’s coffee). He was and always will be a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, whose memory will forever remain in the hearts of his loved ones. Rather than flowers, please donate any money you would spend to Hospice. Because of Hospice, he was able to have his last wishes granted: to be home surrounded by his loved one’s. So please, in memory of the great man he was, send all donations their way. Calling hours will be held on Thursday October 27th from 2 to 4pm at the A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 4pm.
