Just received a note from Ruthie about Fritz's passing. Very sorry to hear that news. My family had a great relationship with Fritz and Marie since the early 1950's when my grandparents built their summerhouse next door to the Michaelsen's residence. Fritz and Marie seemed to be permanent fixtures in East Durham and during our summer visits we always looked forward to seeing them.
The house in the Catskills was my mother's favorite spot. The property had been in her family since the early 1900's. Probably her most favorite activity was spending the day swimming at High Rock. She also enjoyed swimming in the Michaelsen's pool which they graciously made available.
I have many fond memories of summers in the catskills. One thing that I remember very clearly is how good the salads were that my mother made with the garden vegetables that the Michaelsen's shared with us from their large garden. So many great memories........
Please accept my sincere condolences.

To Fritz's family. My dad Tom Remmert worked many years with dad at DOT in Cairo. My dad has spoken highly of Fritz throughout the years. As a youngster, I visited him and Marie in East Durham with my parents Tom and Gerry. I remember what a kind spirit they both were. Much time has passed but know my dad often thought of your dad. May he rest in peace. Prayers for all who loved him.

Dear Rick, Karen and Ruthie,
I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Uncle Fritz. Your father was a fine man, one of the kindest I have met. He was always so proud of all of you. I will always remember his laugh and the stories he would share. My Uncle George always had high praises for your Dad.
It doesn't matter what stage of our lives we lose our parents, nothing can prepare you. Please know your whole family will be remembered fondly.
God bless,
Marla

To the Michaelsen family: I only knew Mr. Michaelsen through my job at HearUSA, formerly known as Hearing Assessment and Rehabilitation Services in the GMA building, Catskill, + our Hudson office on Warren St. I always looked forward to seeing Mr. Michaelsen as he was always charming, smiling, well spoken, and very friendly with everyone. He and Christopher Quenelle, audiologist and our former employer, had the most interesting chats and enjoyed each other's company. You have my deepest sympathy in your loss. May your fond memories of Fritz keep him in your hearts always. With sympathy, Joanne Clapper

What a Wonderful Man Fritz was! My late husband, Peter, worked with Fritz for many years at NYS DOT. Never a harsh word to or about anyone and always a smile on his face. My sincere condolences to the family. Rest in Peace Fritz and say Hi to Pete for me up there! :)
