Obituary of Ellen A. Moak
With a broken heart, Ellen A. (Schenk) Moak passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2016 following the death of her husband Perry M. Moak two days earlier. Ellen was born in Brooklyn, NY on September 6, 1934 to Edward and Ellen (Hislop) Schenk and graduated from Sharon Springs Central School. Ellen married Perry on November 29, 1952 and they spent 63 years together. They were the proud parents of three children: Susan Britton (Donald), Linda McCormick (Sean) and Perry J Moak all of Rensselaerville. She is survived by her children as well as 7 grandchildren Lisa, Donny, Tara, Colleen, Kyle, Ashley and Morgan and 11 great grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her sister Barbara Martin, her brothers Edward Jr. (Sonny), Robert and John Schenk. She is survived by two sisters Cecilia Baluha and Theresa Lawrence.
Ellen was employed by the NYS Dept. of Tax & Finance, Dr. Margery W. Smith, and Northeast Savings Bank from where she retired. She also served as Chairman of the Rensselaerville Grievance Board of Assessment Review. She and Perry enjoyed motorcycle races with their son and spent many years camping and traveling in their motor home to various states and spent many winters in Florida.
Ellen was a past member/past President of the East Berne Fire Co. Auxiliary, a member/Past President of the Rensselaerville Democratic Social Club, a member of the Rosary Society as well as a reader and Eucharistic minister at St. John the Baptist Church in Greenville, and member/Past President of the American Legion Auxiliary Clarke White Unit #589. She also served as a Girl Scout Leader and was an avid bowler for 30 years competing in tournaments earning numerous awards.

Calling hours will be held alongside her husband Perry on Sunday, July 10, 4-8 pm at Cunningham Funeral Home, Rt. 81, Greenville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for the couple on Monday, July 11 at 11 am at St. John the Baptist Church, Rt. 81, Greenville. Burial will follow in the Rensselaerville Cemetery.
