Obituary of Richard P. Schreiber

GREENVILLE – Richard P. Schreiber, 75, passed away suddenly on Monday, May 23, 2016 at Albany Medical Center. He was born in Queens on June 30, 1940, son of the late Richard P. and Mae Pudick Schreiber. He was a graduate of Brooklyn Technical High School. In his early years, Richard worked for Otis Elevator Company in New York City. On a vacation at Baumann's Brookside in Greenville, he met Carol A. Baumann, the owner's daughter. She became his bride, and together, they raised a family and took over ownership of the resort. Richard was appointed as a Greenville Town Justice on April 2, 1986, and has served continuously since that date. He is a life member of the Greenville Volunteer Fire Company, with more than 50 years of service, and has served as a Fire Commissioner for many years. He was a 50-year member of the Wa-she-gan Club. Richard is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carol; three children, Richard P. (Lynn) Schreiber, Rosemary (Kevin) Lewis, and Courtney (Jason) Reinhard; six grandchildren, Pierce and Emily Schreiber, Tucker and Russell Lewis, Ben and Julia Reinhard; his "brother of the heart", Thomas (Joanne) Baumann; his "sister of the heart", Joan Smith. Calling hours will be Monday, May 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville. The funeral will be Tuesday, May 31 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by private cremation.
