Obituary of William W. Woodworth
William Wheat Woodworth (Bill), 82, of Cornwallville, NY, passed away on April 9, 2016 in Key Largo, Florida.
Bill was born in Cornwallville to Hannah and Milton Woodworth on December 22, 1933. He graduated from Durham Central School and went on to Cobleskill Ag and Tech College which he attended for two years. He owned and operated his own dairy farm for most of his life. He served as a Greene County Deputy Sheriff for a number of years and as a volunteer fireman for the East Durham Fire Company.
He enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, fishing and spending time with friends and family
Upon retiring from farming, he acquired a second home in Key Largo, Florida where he spent the winter months. He enjoyed fishing off his back deck, boating and the slow pace of the keys. He looked forward to returning to his NY home every summer.
Bill is survived by his daughters Lucinda Beckers and her husband Stephen of Zephyr Hills, Florida and Lisa Woodworth and her husband David Furia of Warrenton, Virginia, as well as his granddaughter Jessica Chase Lounsbury, her husband Justin and sons Lucas and Dylan Milazzo and his grandson William Beckers and his two children Angel and Temperance. Bill is also survived by his sister Alta May Miller and her three children Warren, Lynn and George and their families.
He is preceded in death by his first wife Dorothy Ward Woodworth, his second wife Barbara Temperly Maxwell Woodworth, his parents Hannah Wheat Woodworth and Milton Bock Woodworth and his grandson Clifford Chase V.
Calling hours will be held on Friday May 13, 2016 from 4 to 8pm at the A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville, NY 12083. A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 14th at 11am at the Durham Oak Hill United Methodist Church, 522 County Route 22 (Susquehanna Tpk), Durham, NY, 12422. Following the service, his ashes are to be buried in Cornwallville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the East Durham Volunteer Fire Company, PO Box 92, East Durham, NY 12423. Condolences can be posted at ajcunninghamfh.com.
