Obituary of Francis Sharkey

Francis (Frank) Sharkey, 84, of Roswell, GA, formerly of Greenville, NY, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 12, 2016. The son of William and Mary Ellen (nee Kedian), Frank was born in Ballinameen, Boyle, Co. Roscommon, Ireland on March 10, 1932. He came to New York in 1954, where he met and married the love of his life, Kathleen Marguerite (nee Ferris) and raised their 3 children, John, Frank, and Mary. He was a master carpenter and journeyman electrician, who enjoyed several jobs throughout his career, before retiring from Owens-Corning Fiberglas in Feura Bush, NY as a Maintenance Electrical Technician. He and his wife were, for several years, also the proprietors of Sharkey’s County Line Pub in Greenville, NY. Equally important to Frank was his devotion as a humble servant of the Lord, both at St John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church in Greenville, NY and most recently at St Peter Chanel Roman Catholic Church, in Roswell, GA, where he touched the lives and hearts of many. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Kathleen, and siblings, Michael, and Joseph, and is survived by his sister, Mary Ellen “Cissie” Lee, of Portobello, County Roscommon, Ireland; his children John (Stephanie) of Roswell, GA; Frank (Bernadette) of Greenville, NY; and Mary Halloran (Timothy) of Golden, CO, as well as 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm Thursday, March 17, 2016 at St Peter Chanel Roman Catholic Church in Roswell, GA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, March 18, 2016 at St Peter Chanel. A memorial service is also planned for 9:30 am, April 2, 2016 at Cunningham’s Funeral home in Greenville, NY, followed by interment in Greenville Cemetery at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to the St Peter Chanel Building Fund, 11330 Woodstock Road, Roswell, GA 30075.
