Obituary of Horace Edward Williams

RENSSELAERVILLE – Horace Edward "Ed" Williams, 88, passed away on Tuesday February 23, 2016 at the Stratton VA Medical Center. He was born in New Lebanon on October 23, 1927 to the late Adelbert and Anna Hoffman Williams. He was raised there and after attending Columbia High School in East Greenbush, he joined the U.S. Navy in 1945 during WWII. After being honorably discharged from the military, Ed worked for the American Meter Company. In 1948, he married the late Elaine Gwinn. He bought property in Rensselaerville and it was there that he ran a dairy farm and a livestock farm for most of his life. While still working on his farm, he also worked at Walter Motor Truck Company as a mechanic and assembler. In addition to his parents and his wife, Ed is predeceased by his brothers, Francis Guiles and Adelbert Williams. Ed is survived by his children, Thomas (Rebecca) Williams, Charles (Leslie) Williams, and Judith (Stephen) Dibbell; his grandchildren, Christopher, Nathan, Craig, Jenna, Jill, Ryan, Joshua, Talia, and Brendan; his great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Benjamin, June, Molly, Brianna, Aela, Bayley, Chase, Sydney, Matthew, Blake, and Alexandra; his brother, Theodore Williams; and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Friday February 26th from 5 to 7pm at the A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville, NY 12083. A calling hour will also be held on Saturday February 27th from 10 to 11am, followed by a funeral service at 11am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Saratoga National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, 1 Penny Lane, Latham, NY 12110.
