Obituary of Wilton H. Bear, Sr.

GREENVILLE – Wilton H. Bear, Sr., 94, passed away on Monday January 25, 2016. He was born in Norton Hill on November 28, 1921 to the late Burdett C. and Edith Story Bear. He was a 1939 graduate of Greenville Central School and worked as a mechanic at Main St. Garage in Greenville. Wilton was also a farmer and a carpenter. After he retired from the Garage, he worked as an assistant chef at Sunny Hill Resort for over 20 years. Wilton was a Life Member of the Greenville Volunteer Fire Company and a former 4H Leader. He was an avid bowler and he enjoyed deer hunting, trapping, and fishing. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Helen Campion Bear; his brother, Orloff Bear; and his grandsons, Michael and Kenneth. Wilton is survived by his children, Wilton H. (Mary) Bear, Jr., Howard James (Ann) Bear, Patricia (John) Northrop, and Helen Sue Bear; eight grandchildren; many great and great-great grandchildren; his brother Paul (MaryLou) Bear; and several nieces and nephews. There will be a calling hour from 1 to 2pm on Friday January 29th at the A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville, NY 12083, followed by a funeral service at 2pm. Burial at the Greenville Cemetery to immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Greenville Volunteer Fire Company, PO Box 296, Greenville, NY 12083-0296.
