Obituary of Duane J. Winn

RAVENA – Duane J. Winn, 74, passed away suddenly on Friday January 8, 2016 at his residence. He was born on February 25, 1941 in New Baltimore to the late Augusta Bogart Winn and Jason Winn. He was raised in Oak Hill before joining the United States Army in 1958. Duane worked as a carpenter his whole life, taking on different jobs and running his own carpentry business, and teaching his son the trade. He retired six years ago and began living in Florida during the winter. He got a job a Concord Pools, and he loved driving the pool around. Duane loved to work, loved his animals: his dogs and cats, and he loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In his earlier days he enjoyed stockcar racing, and still enjoyed watching NASCAR, especially Tony Stewart. He also enjoyed watching football, a Giants fan whether they were winning or losing. Duane is survived by his children, Michael D. Winn (Kelly), Melissa A. Winn and Traci Winn (Brandon Tucker); his grandchildren, Jessica and Michael Winn, James Staples, Brandon Winn, Richard and Brook Storm, Mariah Tucker, Ciera and Isaiah Mason, Joshua Covey, and Jeremy Seaburg; his great-grandchildren, Kayden and Mason Winn, Chace Storm, Kasandra Winn, and Sophia and Austin Covey; his brothers David and Gerald Winn; and a niece and several nephews. Calling hours will be on Saturday January 16, from 10 am to 12 noon at the A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville. A memorial service will begin at 12, and burial of the ashes in Cornwallville Cemetery will follow.
