Obituary of Ingeborg Hillicoss

ALBANY – Ingeborg "Ingrid" Hillicoss, 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at the Teresian House where she has resided for the last five years. Born in Brooklyn on February 6, 1929, she was daughter of the late George and Elsie Englemann Merzdorf, and wife of the late Alfred W. Hillicoss. Ingrid and her family came to East Durham from Flushing in 1947. She was employed as a clerk in Lawyer's General Store in East Durham. Ingrid was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, and a Cub Scout and Boy Scout den mother when her children were young. She was a member of the Civil Air Patrol in 1946, member of the Greene County Fire Ladies Auxiliary, and life member of East Durham Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Ingrid was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Oak Hill, and served on the Church Council. Ingrid is survived by her children, Susan (James) Hauck and Allen (Suzan) Hillicoss; daughter-in-law, Barbara Hillicoss; seven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; cousin, Alice Koletty; several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by two sisters, Christa Lipus and Eva Wehner; and her step-son, Edward J. Hillicoss. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, followed by cremation. Burial of her ashes will be private.
