Obituary of Gunther Krebs

CORNWALLVILLE – Gunther Krebs, 73, passed away on Tuesday December 15, 2015 at home. He was born in East Berlin, Germany on June 21, 1942 to the late Adam and Christine Hallermann Krebs. He was raised in Germany for several years before coming to Ridgewood, Queens. Gunther worked in New Jersey as a truck driver and continued to commute to New Jersey after he moved to Cornwallville in 1992. He then worked as a custodian at Cairo-Durham Central School for ten years. Gunther was involved in a skydiving club, a bow and arrow club and a gun club. He was a handyman who helped everyone, if someone needed help, he was there and never asked for anything in return. Gunther is survived by his wife, Hannelore; his children, Robert, Dorothy, and Frank; his brother and sister-in-law, Roland and Regina Krebs; and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Thursday December 17, 2015 from 5 to 8pm at the A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville, NY 12083 with a funeral service to follow at 8pm. He is to be buried the following day in Cornwallville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Durham Task Force, c/o Linda Sutton, 683 Sutton Rd.
