Obituary of Clifton S. Powell

GREENVILLE – Clifton S. Powell, Sr., 97, passed away on Thursday November 26, 2015. He was born in Greenville on March 1, 1918 to the late Scott and Marjorie Swan Powell. A lifelong resident of Greenville, he worked as a mechanic for the NYS Dept. of Transportation, retiring in 1983. He was a US Army veteran, serving in WWII. Clifton was a member of the VFW Catskill #770, a member of the Greenville American Legion Post 291, and a past member of the Greenville Volunteer Fire Company. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Marian Hommell Powell and his brother, Donald Powell. Clifton is survived by his son, Clifton S. (Darlene) Powell, Jr.; step-children, Peter Aiello and Donna Longto; grandchildren, Crystal (Mike) Capritta, Clifton S. (Danielle) Powell III, and Kimberly Powell (Robby); and great-grandsons, Cyle and Clifton John "C.J." Powell. A private family service will be conducted.
