Obituary of Rose Whitney

GREENVILLE- Rose Whitney, 96, died peacefully at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center in Guilderland on Sunday, August 23, 2015. She was born on January 24, 1919 in County Longford, Ireland to the late Peter and Bridget Deignan Collum. She came to the United States with her husband, the late Peter Whitney, and two daughters in 1948, and lived in Queens. Rose and her husband both worked for Morgan Chase Bank in NYC. Widowed in 1977, she came to live with her daughter in Greenville 20 years ago. In addition to her parents and her husband, Rose is predeceased by all eight of her siblings. Rose is survived by her daughters, Mary P. Whitney of Greenville and Rose A. Whitney of Forest Hills; many loving nieces and nephews in the United States, and 2 nephews and a niece in Ireland. Calling hours will be Wednesday, August 26th from 1 to 4pm, with a prayer service at 2pm, at the A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville. Burial will be Thursday, August 27th, at 12 noon at St. Raymond's Cemetery in the Bronx.
