Obituary of David R. Gumport

GREENVILLE – David R. Gumport, 61, passed away suddenly at home on Saturday May 16, 2015. David was born on July 21, 1953 in Albany. He was raised in Greenville, graduating from GCS in 1971. He then received his Bachelor's Degree from Clarkson University in 1975. David worked at US Steel, then at Lorbrook in Hudson, then at RJS Technologies in Latham, and was currently at HJM Precision, Inc. in Troy, working as a design engineer. He was a member of the Norton Hill Wildlife Club, Sons of the American Legion, NYS Pistol Association, and a life member of the NRA. He would have celebrated his 40th wedding anniversary with his wife, Karen, on July 26, 2015. David is survived by his wife, Karen S. Richeson Gumport; his mother, Harriet Katovitch Gumport; his brother, Jeffrey (Britt) Gumport; his sister-in-law, Roxanne Richeson; his brother-in-law Lee Richeson; and two nieces and a nephew. He was predeceased by his father, David L. Gumport. Calling hours will take place on Wednesday May 20th from 4 to 8pm at the A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home 4898 State Route 81 Greenville. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday May 21st at 11am at the funeral home, followed by burial in Greenville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the NRA.
