Obituary of Eleanor Marie Kohler

Eleanor Marie Kohler Born Dec. 2, 1927- died March 1, 2015 Eleanor Marie Kohler passed away peacefully on March 1, 2015. Born in Greenpoint, N.Y. She was the daughter of the late Daniel and Emma Reilly. When she was young, Eleanor sang opera and auditioned in Carnegie hall. She loved the Sound of Music and dancing. She retired after a career as an executive secretary at Woodhaven Hospital. She moved upstate with her husband and dance partner, John Ozga, to a house they built together in Gilboa, to be near family. Eleanor was known for her marathon shopping outings with her sister Dorothy, daughter Joyce, niece Cookie and longtime friend, Lorraine Murphy. She loved spending time with her family, especially visiting and caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. As she battled Alzheimer's, she was cared for at home by her daughter Joyce and son-in-law William Silk, and received frequent visits from her friend, Patti Schwenk. Eleanor was predeceased by her son, John Kohler, her husband John Ozga, and her beloved grandson, John Joseph Kohler. Eleanor is survived by her sister Dorothy Marino; her children Joyce Silk (William) and Raymond Daniel Kohler (Phyllis); nieces and nephews: Cookie & Jack Blakitis, Dana Tabala, Andrea Amadeo, Tony Bueti, Kristin Bueti, and Joey Bueti; her grandchildren: James Silk (Jennifer), Kelly Fagan (Jim), and Megan Kohler; and her great-grandchildren: Emily & Daniel Fagan, and Alexa, Kristen, Kaitlyn, and Taryn Silk. Calling hour is at Cunningham`s Funeral Home on Friday May 1st from 1-2 pm, with interment immediately following at the Greenville Cemetery.Contributions in her memory can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
