Obituary of Nettie Chesbro

GREENVILLE – Nettie Denton Chesbro, 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday April 19, 2015 at her residence. She was born in Roosevelt, NY on July 11, 1921 to the late Morris Alonzo and Grace Ann (Collins) Denton. Nettie was a graduate of Hempstead High School, class of 1939. She was a devoted and life long communicant at Christ Episcopal Church in Greenville. She held positions both in the American Legion Auxiliary Post 291, Christ Church Women's Guild, Altar Guild, as well as a member of the choir throughout her life. She was always helping out in events and services. Her strong faith was evident in all she did in life. Nettie was a full time homemaker, caretaker to many, and most of all was the most loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed her Bible study group, daily devotions, baking and traveling, working alongside her husband, and times spent with her family. Nettie is predeceased by her parents, her husband Madison D. "Mat" Chesbro Jr., and her brothers Donald, Ralph, and Kenneth Denton. Surviving are her children, Madison D. Chesbro III of Orlando, FL, Diane Briggs of Greenville, Charles and his wife Rebecca Chesbro of Greenville, and Sandra Hladik of South Cairo; her grandchildren, Wesley, Kelly, Carrie, T.J., Joseph, Matthew, Cynthia, Grace, and Charlie; her great-grandchildren, Brent, Lily, Paige, Brian, Ginny, and Allie; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will take place on Saturday April 25, at 11am at the Christ Episcopal Church, State Route 32, Greenville. Burial of ashes is to follow in Greenville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Christ Episcopal Church Memorial Fund or to the Greenville Public Library. Condolences can be posted at ajcunninghamfh.com.
