Obituary of Louis F. Becker

FREEHOLD – Louis F. Becker, loving husband and father, died as a result of an automobile accident on January 14, 2015. He was a lifelong resident of Freehold. He was 87 years old. Mr. Becker was born on December 19th, 1927 to Maude E. Keefe and Frederick S. Becker. He was one of three children. He was married to Elizabeth M. (Birkett) Becker for 63 years. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth M.; son Walter F., daughter-in-law Tara; two grandchildren, Sean and Eilis Becker and a special nephew Fred Smith. He was predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Marjorie and Elaine. Mr. Becker was a charter and life member of the Freehold Fire Company and had recently been recognized for 70 years of service. He had served as the Chief of Police for the Town of Greenville for ten years. Mr. Becker was retired from the Greene County Highway Department where he had been a heavy equipment operator. Mr. Becker took great pride in his home and property and all of the work he had put into it over the years. He was a member of the New Scotland Beagle Club and over the years had participated in many regional field trials with his dogs. He was a Mason and a member of the James Austin Masonic Lodge F & AM #557. He enjoyed hunting and trapping and tending to his vegetable garden, chickens and rabbits. He was always willing to lend a hand to those in need and he will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. A memorial service will be held at the A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home 4898 Route 81, Greenville NY on Saturday January 24, 2015 at 2pm. Friends are welcome to visit prior to the service from 12pm to 2pm. There will be a Fireman's service at 1:30pm. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
