Frances R. O'Halloran Obituary

HANNACROIX – Frances R. O'Halloran, 87, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson after a long illness. Born in Astoria on June 20, 1927, she was daughter of the late Edward and Cecelia Sommer Whalen. Frances lived on Long Island for many years and moved to the Greenville area in 1966. She worked as a nurse's aide at the former Greenville Center Nursing Home, and at the former Greene County Memorial Hospital, retiring 20 years ago. Frances is a member of the Coeymans Hollow Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, Greenville Golden Years Club, and Cairo Golden Age Club.


Frances is survived by three children, Stephen (Cathy) O'Halloran Jr., Garry O'Halloran (Shannon), and Georgina Jones (Cliff); two brothers, Robert (Rosemary) and Timothy (Barbara) Whalen; 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Frances was predeceased by her siblings, Margaret Vanderlofske, Edward and Eileen Whalen.


Frances has been cremated privately. Calling hours will be Friday, January 9, from 4 to 7 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville, followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Coeymans Hollow Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, PO Box 147, Coeymans Hollow, NY 12046 will be appreciated.
